The Miami Dolphins claimed kicker Cody Parkey of Jupiter after he was waived by the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.

Parker was a Pro Bowler with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2014, setting a franchise scoring record and NFL rookie scoring record with 150 points.

That season, Parkey converted 17 consecutive field goals, the second-longest streak in team history.

The Dolphins chose not to bring in camp competition for kicker Andrew Franks in the preseason. But what this means for Franks’ future is not immediately clear.

In the preseason, Franks made all 11 extra points and made a 56-yarder, but missed one short field goal.

Parkey has never missed a field goal 29 yards or shorter (17-for-17).

On field goals of 30-39 yards, Parkey is 21-for-23 (91 percent).

On field goals of 40-49 yards, Parkey 12-for-20 (60 percent).

On field goals of 50 or more yards, Parkey is 5-for-5 (100 percent).

Last season, Parkey missed five field goals between 40 and 49 yards, which is a big part of the reason why he was beaten out in camp.
