Adam Gase has “no idea” whether to be optimistic about Jarvis Landry’s status

MINNEAPOLIS—This isn’t an ideal situation for the Dolphins, but for now, they’ll press forward assuming Jarvis Landry can keep playing.

Landry is under investigation by the Broward County State Attorney’s Office and the NFL, and any potential league penalties are not contingent upon what the legal system determines. The NFL said Thursday it is still reviewing the incident, and Dolphins coach Adam Gase said the team has “no idea” whether to be optimistic about how the situation will be resolved.

“It’s a league matter,” he said after the team won 30-9 at Minnesota. “There’s nothing really we can do about it. We are just waiting to hear what the league says to us, and then we can move on from there.”

The uncertainty for Gase likely lies in the fact that the NFL can rule the incident as a violation of its code of conduct regardless of whether Landry is charged. If the league hands down a penalty, Landry has the right to appeal.
